Messages
How to message a seller or another member, send photos, find your conversations, and keep your deals safe.
Starting A Conversation
- Open a listing and press Message in the seller's box, or open a member's profile and press Message.
- Write your message and send it. When you message from a listing, the listing is attached so the seller knows which gear you mean.
- You'll see Message Sent. Press Go To Conversations to keep chatting.
If you've already talked with that member, you'll go straight to your existing conversation. Conversations are always started from a profile or a listing. There's no "new message" button in the inbox.
Sending an offer with a message also starts a conversation with the seller. See Offers.
Your Conversations
Open Conversations from the account menu, or press the messages icon in the top bar. Unread conversations have a dot, and you can find one fast with Search by member name.
You'll get an email and a push notification for every new message. Turn either off under Messages in Notifications & Emails.
Sending Photos & Video
Inside a conversation, press the + button and choose Photo or video. You can add several at once, or paste or drag them into the conversation. Images can be up to 20MB and videos up to 75MB.
Photos can't be added to the very first message of a new conversation, so send your first message, then add photos in the conversation.
Attaching A Listing
When you message from a listing, it shows above the message box as Attached to this message. Press Remove if you don't want it attached.
Keeping It On Paintball Vault
Never send payment through messages, and never share passwords or payment details. Paintball Vault will never ask for them in a message.
Paintball Vault Protection only covers sales paid through checkout. To keep members safe, every message is screened automatically. Messages that try to take a sale off the site, such as sharing a phone number, email address or payment handle, or asking for PayPal or Venmo, are removed, and the sender sees a notice that it broke our Terms & Conditions.
If a member makes you uncomfortable, block them from the top of your conversation, and contact us if they're scamming or harassing anyone.
Messaging The Paintball Vault Team
Your conversations include an official Paintball Vault thread for anything about your orders, listings or account. Where available, the Who answers switch at the top lets you choose between Paintball Vault AI, for instant answers, and The team, for a person, who usually replies within a day. See Contact Us.
