Selling

This guide explains the selling process on Paintball Vault.

Sales Tax Information for Sellers

Most US states have enacted marketplace facilitator tax laws that impact online marketplaces such as Paintball Vault. These laws shift tax collection responsibilities from third party sellers to the marketplace facilitating such transactions. As a result, Paintball Vault calculates, collects, reports, and remits applicable sales tax on behalf of our third-party sellers.

Additional Information for Sellers

  • Items sold on the Paintball Vault platform and shipped to buyers located in certain marketplace states may be subject to sales tax.
  • Depending on the state, separately stated shipping charges using Paintball Vault shipping labels may be subject to sales tax.
  • Whether sales tax will be added to the buyer's order and at what rate depends on the nature of the item purchased and the shipment delivery address.
  • The tax rate applied to your order will be the combined state and any applicable county, city, or other local taxes based on the delivery address.
  • Paintball Vault will automatically calculate, collect, and remit any applicable sales taxes to the state taxing authorities on behalf of our sellers.
  • There is no action required on the part of our sellers to remit the sales tax. Any applicable sales tax will be added to the buyer's order as a separate charge in addition to the item price and shipping charges (unless you choose to pay for shipping).
  • There are no additional charges or fees associated with the collection and remittance of sales tax by Paintball Vault.
  • Sellers cannot opt-out of Paintball Vault's sales tax collection when it is required by state, county, city, or other local law.

Selling With Confidence On Paintball Vault

Selling on Paintball Vault is set out to be safe and easy.

Paintball Vault enables secure payment processing and our team works hard to make sure transactions are safe, secure, and fair for both buyers and sellers. Paintball Vault understands the uncertainties with transacting online, and we're here to support you in the process.

Offers On Your Gear

Enable "Accepts Offers" on a listing and buyers can negotiate with you instead of paying the listed price. You can also set a Minimum Offer Amount on that listing, which has to be less than what you're asking. Buyers are stopped from sending an offer or counter-offer below that amount, so you don't spend your time on prices you've already ruled out.

Responding To An Offer

When an offer comes in, you'll get an email and a Push Notification (with enabled permissions), and the offer shows up on your Offers screen along with any message the buyer sent. You have three options:

  • Accept — the buyer gets 48 hours to buy the gear at that price.
  • Decline — the offer is closed. The buyer can send a new one.
  • Counter — you send back a price of your own and the negotiation continues.

Offers alternate turns. After you counter, it's the buyer's move — they can accept, decline, or counter back — and you can't counter again until they've responded. There's no limit on how many rounds an offer can go.

Offer Deadlines

An offer expires 48 hours after it's sent, and every counter resets that clock to a fresh 48 hours. Whoever is on the clock gets a reminder 24 hours and 1 hour before the deadline. If nobody responds in time, the offer expires on its own.

Once you accept an offer, the buyer has 48 hours to complete the purchase at that price, and the accepted price is applied automatically at their checkout. If they don't buy in that window, the accepted offer expires and your gear goes back to its listed price. Accepting is binding on both sides, so only accept a price you're happy to ship at.

Promoting Your Gear

Listing gear is free, and you don't have to spend anything to sell on Paintball Vault. If you want to speed things up, Paintball Vault Featured puts a listing at the front of our homepage row, the top of search, our Instagram stories, and our weekly newsletter for 72 hours.

Shipping Your Gear

Paintball Vault has made shipping gear as easy as possible for both buyers and sellers. After a buyer purchases your gear, a shipping label will be created for you that you will put on your carefully packed box of gear and get it on the way to the buyer.

The Shipping Deadline

Every order needs to be shipped with the Paintball Vault label within 6 days of the sale. The carrier's first scan is what counts — if your package hasn't been scanned within 6 days, the order can be cancelled and the buyer refunded.

Gear shipped with your own postage or handed off in person never gets a scan on the order, and no scan means no payment. Always ship with the label Paintball Vault creates for you.

Setting Up Shipping Policies

Setting up Shipping Policies make it easy for you to apply the same set of shipping rules to all of the gear that you sell. A policy can configure the options below. You can also set up multiple shipping policies, for example one policy that's meant for headgear that's shipped in a USPS envelope, and one policy that uses a large box and can be shipped via UPS that's meant for a marker.

Setting Package Dimensions & Weight

The dimensions and weight of your package are important information that's needed in order to accurately provide the shipping label that's eligible for your sold gear.

As a seller on Paintball Vault, you are expected to ship your sold gear using the provided shipping label and you are responsible for accurately entering the shipment dimensions and weight and for carefully packing your gear. Any overages beyond the quoted shipping label cost that are due to shipments with inaccurate dimensions, weight or value can result in a reversal of payment for the order.

Enabling Free Shipping & Setting A Max Shipping Cost

Offering free shipping on your orders is a great way to attract more buyers. Paintball Vault understands the uncertainty with offering free shipping and not knowing where the item will eventually need to be shipped and the unknown costs associated with that. In order to make this safer for sellers, you can set a maximum shipping cost which will be used to cover the shipping costs for the order. Any additional shipping costs over the maximum set will be passed on to the buyers. A minimum covered cost of $25 applies to every shipping policy.

Choosing Shipping Providers

As a seller, you will have the option to choose which shipping providers you are willing to ship your gear with. Buyers will be shown these selected shipping providers when browsing your gear and during checkout. While we know shipping with certain providers may be more convenient for you than others, we recommend enabling as many as you can manage in order to allow the buyers to choose the provider of their choice.

Choosing Carrier Specific Packaging (USPS Only)

For sellers choosing to ship via USPS only, an option to select from USPS provided carrier packaging will be available while creating your shipping policy. This makes it easier to not have to enter package dimensions or weight of your package, and to just use one of the free USPS boxes that they provide.

Enabling Expedited Shipping

With expedited shipping, you unlock the abilities to offer shipping methods such as overnight and two-day shipping. However, in order for these shipping methods to make sense to the buyer, Paintball Vault expects sellers to ship their orders the next business day. Sellers who do not ship within 24 hours will be at risk for losing their status as a seller who offers Expedited Shipping.

Contact us if you are interested in enabling Expedited Shipping.

Platform Fees Associated With Selling

Listing your gear for sale on Paintball Vault is free. You only pay a 9.9% platform fee after your item sells and the buyer receives your item as promised.

Base Platform Fee

The base fee that Paintball Vault deducts from sales is 9.9% of the order value, which includes the gear total and buyer-paid shipping costs. This platform fee goes towards keeping Paintball Vault operating as the go-to destination to buy, sell and trade paintball gear online. It also covers operational costs such as:

  • 2.9% payment processing fee that's taken from the payment processing company used to enable all of the payment methods Paintball Vault has enabled to make buying gear as easy as possible.
  • Any additional fees that are associated with buyers choosing financing options to purchase your gear, which are on top of the 2.9% payment processing fee.
  • Marketing your gear through the use of Paintball Vault's internal (social channels such as Instagram and YouTube) and external marketing channels (Instagram Ads, Facebook Ads and Google Ads).

Shipping Fees

Shipping costs are up to you as a seller and are ultimately passed on to the buyer in the event you have not offered to cover any of the shipping costs of your transaction set within your Shipping Policies.

Getting Paid

Getting paid on Paintball Vault is easy. Deliver your gear to your buyers as described and on-time and you can transfer the funds minus the platform fees to your account.

Payout Eligibility

In order for your earnings to be transferred to your chosen bank account or debit card, you must verify your account through our payment processor, Stripe. You can verify your account by clicking the "Verify Account" button that can be found on your Account screen, or on the Selling screen within your account.

Part of the verification process is enabling a bank account, or debit card that you would like your order earnings to be transferred to. It is the responsibility of the seller to enter this information in accurately to ensure a safe transfer of your earnings. Paintball Vault is not responsible for any misinformation provided to Stripe.

Transferring Funds To Your Bank

After a buyer reviews your order (or after the 48-hour automatic review window), Paintball Vault will transfer your earnings to your Stripe connected account. From there, payouts to your linked bank account are handled by Stripe. You do not need to manually initiate a transfer for pending earnings.

You may see your earnings balance shown as pending on your Account screen. This may be caused by the payment not yet being cleared through the payment processor. Once the payment is cleared, you will see the payment pending status removed.

Once payments are transferred from Paintball Vault, to the seller, a normal ACH processing time may apply to your funds being available to be withdrawn from your Earnings account.

Chargeback & Fraud Prevention

Paintball Vault helps mitigate chargeback and fraud on the platform by using prevention tactics both internally, and through Stripe Radar. In the event of a chargeback or a fraudulent purchase that results in reversal of the originating payment for your order, Paintball Vault will help step in to work with sellers to provide evidence refuting the chargeback. In the event that a chargeback is not reversed, the terms outlined in our Terms & Conditions may apply.
